UZIX 2.0 Downloads

UZIX Alphas
  • UZIX 0.2.1 installation

  • UZIX installation program for harddisk and floppy. Contains kernel 0.2.1, the latest version of Stack TCP/IP and applications (including network, and the new telnet daemon, tupiniquim web server (beta) and ZICA IRC client). A total of 100 applications for UZIX. Also includes the new UZLO bootloader installer. Download both setup.com (setup program - 5kb) and setup.dat (data file - 717kb). Check UZIX 0.2.1 alpha notes for more information. Also available is Graphic UZLO 2.0. UZIX 0.2.1 was the first release of an MSX operating system that could handle ethernet cards and have a real GUI.

UZIX Installation
  • UZIX 0.2.0 installation

  • UZIX installation program for harddisk and floppy. Contains kernel 0.2.0 and the latest version of Stack TCP/IP and applications (including network). A total of 100 applications for UZIX. Also includes UZLO bootloader installer. Download both setup.com (setup program - 5kb) and setup.dat (data file - 710kb). Check UZIX Installation Guide for more information.

UZIX diskimages
  • UZIX 0.2.0 disk image (251kb);

  • UZIX bootable 720kb disk image containing running kernel 0.2.0 with latest version of Stack TCP/IP and network applications (including dial-up and web-browser), shell and many utils in /bin. Configured with only one terminal - to enable others, create /dev/ttyX, where X is 1 or 2; don't do it if your MSX has 128kb RAM! No password is required for root. Write 'help' at the prompt to get a list of shell built-in commands.

UZIX utilities
  • MSX-DOS-hosted UZIX disk utils (37 kb);

  • Contains UCP, a ftp-like program to access UZIX disks and exchange files with MSX-DOS (write '?' at the prompt to get a list of available commands), FSCK, an UZIX filesystem checker and MKFS, an UZIX filesystem maker. Use "ucp b:", "fsck b:" or "mkfs b: 1440 25" for running them into drive B.

  • UZIX-targeted Hitech-C compiler (290 kb);

  • Contains all the header files, libraries and compiler executable files needed to compile a C application for the UZIX operating system under a CP/M-compatible environment. Also includes compiler manual and general instructions.

  • UZIX-targeted Hitech-C compiler for Linux (1kb);

  • In fact, this is just a script to compile UZIX applications under Linux. To use this script you must install cpmemu version 0.2.1-mod3 or later (that can be found here - 120kb). Put the script in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler. Source files to be compiled must also be in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler.

  • Hitech-C compiler for Linux (10kb);

  • In fact, this is just a script to compile applications under Linux. To use this script you must install cpmemu version 0.2.1-mod3 or later (that can be found here - 120kb). With this script you can use subdirectories and specify paths for any #include directive on your sources. Also, source, header, library and executable files can be put in separate directories. This script is copyright Aurora 2002. Also available are a library utility and a sample Makefile.

  • UZIX-targeted Hitech-C compiler for MSX-DOS (143kb);

  • CP/M Hitech-C compiler adapted to MSXDOS by Pierre Gielen, using a modified C-command application to generate UZIX applications. Includes the source of C-command. Overwrite the Hitech-C compiler files with this package. Read file '!readme.txt' for syntax and available options. Source files to be compiled must be in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler.

  • UZIX-targeted Hitech-C compiler for MS-DOS (1kb);

  • In fact, this is just a batch file to compile UZIX applications under MS-DOS. To use this batch you must install 22NICE CP/M Emulator (that can be found here - 52kb). Put the batch file in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler. You also must use a patched version of Hitech-C linker for command-line lowercase. Source files to be compiled must also be in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler.

  • UZIX-targeted Hitech-C compiler for MS-DOS (1kb);

  • In fact, this is just a batch file to compile UZIX applications under MS-DOS. To use this batch you must install Z80MU CP/M Emulator (that can be found here - 87kb). Put the batch file in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler. You also must use a patched version of Hitech-C linker for command-line lowercase. Source files to be compiled must also be in the same directory of Hitech-C compiler. Z80MU allows faster compilation than 22NICE and also releases more memory to the compiler.

UZIX add-ons and programs
  • Graphic UZLO 1.0 (8 kb);

  • The graphical version of UZLO, the UZIX bootloader. Execute program 'insguzlo' to install. If installing over text-based UZLO, uninstall it first. Graphic UZLO is copyright MSXPró 2001.

  • UZIX extra applications (134kb);

  • Contains archivers (PMEXT, PMARC, XARJ, UNPMA), a text editor (ASCII Full Screen Editor), a spreadsheet (Microsoft Multiplan) and a BASIC interpreter (Microsoft BASIC). WARNING: these are CPM/MSXDOS converted applications, running under UZIX using CPM/MSXDOS emulation, so they access only the current directory. Also, Multiplan and ASCII Full Screen Editor help will only work if their extra files are located in the current directory.
