Overview: The VMX80 cartridge was released to get 80-column mode in MSX1 machines. It receives video input from MSX and has a video output to a monochrome monitor. VMX80 was produced in 1987 by Microsol Tecnologia. DDX and Gradiente also produced their own 80-column cartridges, called DDX80 and CT80. As an interesting note, CT80 has a V9938 VDP, and many of them where bought by CIEL/DDX just to get the VDP for MSX2 upgrade kits. Dualhead with CT80 would be very interesting, since it's capable of displaying full color graphics (SCREENS 0 to 3; 4 to 8 if more memory is added to the cartridge) and VMX80/DDX80 can display only text.
